22 identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – provide spectacle during one of the largest sporting events in the country
The battle for victory promises to be more exciting than ever
Zonhoven, May 6, 2025 – The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, the fastest one-make series in the Low Countries, kicks off its twelfth season on one of the most legendary circuits in the world: Spa-Francorchamps. As part of the Belgian FIA WEC weekend in the heart of the Ardennes, 22 identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars (Type 992) will light up the track with two action-packed sprint races in front of tens of thousands of racing fans.

Following the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the FIA WEC weekend at Spa stands as Belgium’s second-largest paying sporting event. In 2024, over 88,000 spectators gathered in the rolling green hills of the Ardennes to enjoy not only world-class endurance racing, but also the intense action of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. That excitement is set to return from May 8 to 10, as Spa hosts the opening round of the 2025 season.
After a high-stakes qualifying session on Friday morning, the grid will line up for two sprint races of 30 minutes plus one lap: the first on Friday at 5:55 PM, and the second on Saturday at 10:25 AM.

Title fight between established names and young talent
A legendary track demands a competitive lineup—and the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux delivers. Eighteen full-season entrants will be joined by four high-caliber guest drivers in Spa, promising edge-of-your-seat action.
The fight for the overall crown is expected to center on the PRO category, where a blend of seasoned veterans and hungry young drivers set the stage for a gripping season. All eyes will be on Jaap van Lagen (Team RaceArt), a new addition to the series but a familiar name in Porsche circles. With extensive experience under his belt, he enters as a top contender.
Van Lagen's teammate, young Dutch charger Sam Jongejan, already showed strong pace in 2024 and is aiming to build on that performance. He’ll be joined by other rising stars, including Nick Ho (PG Motorsport), Thomas Kangro (RedAnt Racing), Alexander Reimann (EST1), Robin Knutsson (NGT Racing), and Team GP Elite duo Dréke Janssen and Domas Raudonis—all determined to challenge for the top step of the podium.
Another name to watch is Niels Langeveld (RedAnt Racing), the experienced Benelux driver who impressed in his debut season and now targets the title.
Among the guest drivers, local hero Bertrand Baguette (D’IETEREN LUXURY PERFORMANCE) brings a wealth of international success to his home race, with accolades including titles in the World Series 3.5, FIA WEC (LMP2), and Super GT in Japan. Joining him as a guest PRO entrant is Daan van Kuijck (Team GP Elite), further strengthening an already elite lineup.

Rookies ready for an exciting battle
The Rookie category is set to be wide open, with no clear favorite heading into the season opener. Q1 Trackracing, reigning champions in both driver and team standings, is doubling down on youth, fielding Frank Porté Ruiz and Alexandra Vateva—the first female driver in the class.
Milan Marczak (RedAnt Racing) graduates from karting, while Mees Muller (PG Motorsport) steps up after a solid campaign in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux. International contenders include Max Schlichenmeier (cargraphic by Kurt Ecke Motorsport) and Nikola Miljkovic (Spark Racing Team), each looking to make a name for themselves.
They’ll be joined by Tomas de Backer (JW Raceservice), a seasoned campaigner from Antwerp with multiple brand cup titles, and young talent Hjelte Hoffner (MDM Motorsport), adding further depth to the Rookie field.

Three-way battle in PRO-AM
The PRO-AM category is shaping up for a fierce three-way title fight. Defending champion Jani Käkelä (39 Racing) is back to defend his crown against strong rivals: 2024 runner-up Jules Grouwels (Team RaceArt) and fellow challenger Henri Tuomaala (Henri Tuomaala). All three bring experience, consistency, and a hunger for victory.

See you on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Spa-Francorchamps for the fastest brand cup in the Benelux!
