Jaap van Lagen Defends His Lead Against Four Ambitious Young Challengers
Frank Porté Ruiz and Jules Grouwels Head to the Decider as Leaders in Rookie and PRO-AM
Zonhoven, Wednesday, September 24, 2025. The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux is heading into its grand finale, and the championship fight in every category is still wide open. On September 26, 27, and 28, the grid will line up for the last time this season at Circuit Zandvoort, where the battles for the overall crown, Rookie honors, and PRO-AM supremacy will all be settled. With two races still on the calendar, everything remains to play for after a spectacular and hard-fought season.

Two sprint races of thirty minutes plus one lap each will bring the curtain down on the 2025 campaign of the fastest one-make cup in the Benelux. While the championship trophies are still undecided, the team title has already been claimed. This year it goes to Team RaceArt.
“We’re heading towards a fantastic season finale, with fierce competition in every class,” explains Series Manager Olivier Aerts. “It’s also the end of an era, as Zandvoort marks the last Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux weekend without ABS. From 2026 onward, the series will fully adopt ABS, a move that’s already drawing in new talent. In fact, three drivers will take part in Zandvoort as preparation for a debut next season. On top of that, we’re pleased to welcome back Dréke Janssen (GP Elite) and Henri Tuomaala (Team Koiranen). For now, I’m really looking forward to an intense final battle by the North Sea.”

A sporting showdown across the board
At Circuit Zandvoort, the title fight promises fireworks, with five drivers still mathematically in the hunt for overall glory. Championship leader Jaap van Lagen sits on 184 points, the Team RaceArt veteran enjoying a cushion of 25 points, equal to one race win, over his closest pursuers: Sam Jongejan (Team RaceArt) and Robin Knutsson (NGT Racing). Niels Langeveld (RedAnt Racing) and Nick Ho (PG Motorsport) remain outsiders, trailing by 39 and 49 points respectively, but still holding a slim chance. Whatever happens, the final top three of the 2025 season will come from this group of five.
In the Rookie classification, three drivers remain in contention, though the duel is mainly between Frank Porté Ruiz (Q1 Trackracing) and Milan Marczak (RedAnt Racing). Mees Muller (PG Motorsport) lags further behind in third and would need a miracle weekend to snatch the crown, while also defending his podium spot from Max Schlichenmeier (Kurt Ecke Motorsport), who impressed at Zolder with his first win and a third-place finish.
In PRO-AM, it’s a straight fight between Jules Grouwels (Team RaceArt) and Jani Käkelä (39 Racing). With a 20-point margin, the Dutchman from Limburg goes into the finale with the advantage, but the Finn is still within striking distance.
