Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux title fight intensifies at Circuit Zolder

  • Five contenders ready for the decisive sprint in September

  • Championship battles still wide open across all categories

Zonhoven, September 9, 2025. The fifth round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux brings the action to Circuit Zolder, located in the heart of Belgian Limburg. As part of the European Truck Championship weekend, two races of thirty minutes plus one lap are on the schedule. These Belgian duels will play a crucial role in shaping the championship picture, with Jaap van Lagen (Team RaceArt) defending an eleven-point lead over nearest rival Robin Knutsson (NGT Racing). The Rookie and Pro-Am classes also promise to deliver fierce competition on the Limburg track.

After four of the six race weekends, the fight for the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux crown remains wide open. In theory, the top ten still have a shot at the overall title, but all eyes are on the current top five as the contenders head into the decisive stretch. At Zolder, where Porsche claimed its 21st victory in the legendary 24 Hours of Zolder on August 31, the tension is set to rise even further.

Following the last round at Assen, two drivers have edged slightly clear: Dutch veteran Jaap van Lagen with 138 points, and Swedish challenger Robin Knutsson with 127. The competition right behind them is far from over. Niels Langeveld (RedAnt Racing) sits on 119 points, with Nick Ho (PG Motorsport, 115) and Sam Jongejan (Team RaceArt, 114) close behind. Among this leading group, Knutsson and Jongejan have each taken two wins so far, while the other three contenders have one victory apiece. In other words, the stage is set for an all-out battle at Circuit Zolder. The grand finale follows later this month, from September 26 to 28, at Circuit Zandvoort.

Intense competition in every class

The Rookie championship is also boiling over. Sitting sixth overall, Andorran talent Frank Porté Ruiz (Q1 Trackracing) holds the advantage with 161 points, but he is chased closely by Milan Marczak (RedAnt Racing, 149) and Mees Muller (PG Motorsport, 137). The trio has been locked in battle all season, and Zolder is expected to be no different.

In Pro-Am, the duel between Jules Grouwels (Team RaceArt) and Jani Käkelä (39 Racing) continues with only nine points between them in the provisional standings.

Team RaceArt currently leads the team classification on 251 points, followed by RedAnt Racing (182) and PG Motorsport (168).
