Team RaceArt Takes Double Victory at the Hungaroring with Jaap van Lagen and Sam Jongejan

  • Van Lagen Leads the Championship Standings After Six Races

  • Five different winners in six races set the stage for a thrilling second half of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season

  • Four different winners in both the Rookie and Pro-Am classes highlight the open competition in the fastest one-make series in the Benelux

The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux delivered another action-packed weekend, with two different overall winners and four different drivers topping the podiums in the Rookie and Pro-Am classes. Jaap van Lagen and Sam Jongejan claimed victory on Saturday and Sunday respectively at the legendary Hungaroring. Van Lagen now heads into the second half of the season, which resumes in Assen on 9–10 August, as the championship leader.

This marked the first-ever visit of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux to Budapest, Hungary’s historic capital. The iconic Hungaroring—host of the first Formula 1 Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain nearly 40 years ago—served up a challenging and exciting race weekend.

Jaap van Lagen secured both pole positions during qualifying and dominated the opening race from start to finish, earning his maiden victory in the Benelux series.

He was followed by top rookie Frank Porté Ruiz, who continues to impress in his debut season. The Andorran not only claimed his first overall podium, but also notched his third consecutive Rookie class win. Niels Langeveld finished third in his RedAnt Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992), ahead of Robin Knutsson (NGT Racing) and Sam Jongejan (Team RaceArt).

Behind the runaway rookie winner Porté Ruiz, Milan Marczak (RedAnt Racing) and Mees Muller (PG Motorsport) completed the Rookie podium. In the Pro-Am category, Jani Käkela (39 Racing) took the win.

Jongejan Charges from P8 to Victory on Sunday

Sunday's race saw a shake-up in the results following several incidents. Sam Jongejan stormed from eighth on the grid to take an impressive victory, becoming the first driver this season to claim two race wins.

Niels Langeveld once again featured on the podium, finishing second after his third-place finish on Saturday. Domas Raudonis (Team GP Elite) celebrated his first podium in the series with third place overall.

Milan Marczak returned to the top step of the Rookie podium for the first time since the Spa-Francorchamps season opener, finishing fourth overall. He was followed by Nick Ho (PG Motorsport) and Mees Muller, who came second in the Rookie class. Alexandra Vateva (Q1 Trackracing) rounded out the Rookie podium in third.

In Pro-Am, the win went to Jules Grouwels (Team RaceArt), ahead of Henri Tuomaala (Koiranen) and Saturday’s winner Jani Käkela.

At the halfway mark of the season, Jaap van Lagen leads the overall standings, followed by Niels Langeveld and Sam Jongejan. Milan Marczak heads the Rookie standings, while Jules Grouwels leads in Pro-Am.

Both races from Hungary will be broadcast on Ziggo Sport 3 on 10 July from 18:50.
